A fire destroyed a car and held up traffic on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday afternoon.
At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, amid rush hour traffic, Syosset Fire Department responded to a car fire on the LIE between exits 42 and 43. The right lane was closed for several exits while fire fighters extinguished the flames.
The cause of the fire has not yet been reported. Patch will update with more details as they become available.
