Mini Supermarket Planned for Jackson Avenue
J's Marketplace would replace the former New England Kitchen & Design
After more than a year on the market, vacant New England Kitchen & Design store may finally have a tenant, as plans are being finalized to transform it into a mini supermarket.
The new tenant, Jae Jang, said that after Thursday a hearing with Town of Oyster Bay officials, he hopes to begin the process of creating J's Marketplace.
"I felt this town was in dire need of a good produce shop," Jang wrote on Patch. Weighing in on the Rite Aid closing, he said, "…a store of the size of Rite Aid with over $30k in rent would not survive in a local community setting."

J's Marketplace will carry " premium quality fruits and vegetables, deli, meat, juice bar, salad bar, dairy," as well as organic products, Jang wrote.
Jang said that if all goes well with TOBAY, he would like to begin construction in early November.
