LIPA has taken much post-Sandy criticism, especially after it was announced that full restoration would likely take more than a week. Nicholas Lizanich, VP of operations at LIPA, said the unprecedented effects of Sandy have placed the latest restoration target to next weekend.

Lizanich also said that about half of the affected customers had power restored as of Friday. Syosset and Woodbury by comparison were at just over 50 percent restoration as of Saturday.
