Police Blotter: Shopping Cart Theft; Purse Stolen

A rundown of recent police activity in the area.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Crimes

- from the Coach store in Woodbury. The incident occured on Aug. 4, and police gave the update with the total amount of bags stolen on Wednesday.

- A woman's pocketbook was stolen from her cart at the in Syosset on Aug. 4.

- A GPS and DVD player was stolen from a car off of Woodland Gate and Jericho Turnpike in Syosset.

- Earplugs were reported stolen from a car on Pheasent Lane in Woodbury.

- A car was keyed at the Jericho Library parking lot in Jericho.

- A window on a car was shattered on Robbins Lane in Syosset.

- A building on Jackson Avenue in Syosset was spray-painted.

Arrests

- On Aug. 3, a woman's handbag and merchandise was stolen from her shopping cart she was loading her child into her car outside the Marshall's shopping center in Jericho.

Police arrested Gladys Smith-Pinto, 58, and Gladys Smith, 38, both of Pine Hollow Road, in Oyster Bay, and charged them with with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree.

- On Aug. 5, Gregory Kirkham, 49, was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle Without a Court Ordered Interlock Device.

- On Aug. 6, Rosaria Vitale, 28, was arrested and charged with DWI on the LIE in Syosset.
