West, who has a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Berkeley College, worked in property and casualty insurance as well as in fashion design. She served as an account executive for National Insurance Brokerage of New York at its Islandia, NY location and was also a brand manager assistant for November Design Group in Hicksville, NY, a woman’s apparel line sold on the Home Shopping Network (HSN).
