Blessing of the Animals in Syosset

Oct. 4 marks the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.

Oct. 4 marks the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the popular Catholic medieval saint who is one of the most revered in church history.

But while St. Francis was known for his devotion, humility and love for fellow man, he is also remembered for another reason: being the patron saint of animals.

And to honor the occasion churches across New York, the country and the world will continue the annual tradition known as the"blessing of the animals" ceremonies, including right here in Syosset at St. Edward's at 4 p.m. and at Faith Lutheran Church at 5:30 p.m. All animals welcome.
