Bully! New T.R. Book Set for November Release

Doris Kearns Goodwin's book places a focus on the 26th president's relationship with Howard Taft.

Perhaps the best known Oyster Bay resident of all time, Teddy Roosevelt has had his share of books written about him throughout the years.

Edmund Morris' trilogy spanned his entire life over about 2,500 pages, while H.W. Brand's "T.R.: The Last Romantic" rolled through his time as a young boy in Manhattan, through his heartbreak when his first wife died, and his presidency.

David McCullough's "Mornings on Horseback" won a National Book Award.

Next up: Doris Kearns Goodwin's "The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism."

The book covers the deep friendship between Roosevelt and Taft, which collapses as the two wage a vicious war for the presidency in 1912, leaving the Republican party fragmented - and opening the door for Woodrow Wilson's victory.

The book's Long Island connection doesn't end with Roosevelt. Goodwin grew up in Rockville Centre.

The book will be released on Nov. 5.
