Circa Offers Zumba Fun in Syosset

Work it out!

You've probably passed it a million times.  You see a store named and wonder what it could be.  Is it an antique shop?  Is it a Jewelry Store?  No, it's a fitness and wellness club that offers some of the best Zumba classes in North Syosset.

Located across the street from the American Legion on Berry Hill Road, these intimate studios feel like your very own private gym. Besides Zumba, there are lots of classes to choose from such as Pilates reformer, kick boxing, Bosu, yoga and much more. There are even classes for kids and teens.

Two well-equipped studios flank a nail salon.  As you enter studio A, a wall of eight reformers lean against the wall like soldiers ready for boot camp.  A group of women of all ages are shaking every part of their body to rhythms that you would find at the trendiest night clubs. Perspiration is glistening everywhere.

"You can purchase a 10-pack of Zumba or drop in anytime and pay per class," said Nicole Chechile, owner and one of the instructors.

Chechile has an impressive list of qualifications:  A Bachelors degree in Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Physiology and an Associates degree in Occupational Studies, including a New York State License in Massage Therapy.

If that isn't enough:  "I am certified as a personal trainer, weight-room counselor, fitness trainer, plus I have Hatha yoga, Aerobic, Zumba and Pilates instructor certifications,"  she rattled off at the top of her head, then added, "don't forget my CPR and First Aid certifications." So in other words, you are in very good hands.

According to Circa, here are five reasons why Zumba should be part of your exercise regiment:

  1. Physically speaking, the constant changing movements and dance patterns force your body to change positively, sculpting a leaner, toned and healthier you with a killer core.
  2. For older individuals or those with memory loss, Zumba strengthens brain function and cognitive learning.  You use your mind to interpret movements your body is not accustomed to doing which in turn improves coordination.
  3. If you make the most of it and put your best dancing foot forward you stand to burn almost 1000 calories per session.
  4. Some of the long-term benefits will be better sleep, more energy, lower blood pressure, increased stamina and bone density.
  5. Zumba is just plain fun.  If you walk in feeling ho-hum you will walk out revitalized.

The studio at the north part of the shopping strip is mainly for private training sessions, massages, and acupuncture so stop by and get a tour.  No membership required.
