To help you with what to do this weekend we’ve found events that are happening both in Syosset and in neighboring towns.

1. Champagne Party

Why Go: Live music with the Sweet Caribbean and eclectic sound of the “City Sounds Music Experience” featuring “The Dynamic Duo," Steelpan Man & The Drumming Boy Wonder, with a special guest appearance from Broadway’s The Buddy Holly story.

2.  Floral Design

Why Go: See head gardener Scott Lucas as he uses selections from the cut garden to demonstrate the different design techniques. Register.

3.  Huntington Summer Arts Festival: Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams

Why Go: Hear this Hudson Valley based band as the blend rock & roll, folk and quirky Americana.

Why Go:  See the movie in which Mattie Ross is determined to avenge her father's blood by capturing Tom Chaney, the man who shot and killed him for two pieces of gold.

5. St. Edward's Festival 2011

Where/When: 205 Jackson Ave, Syosset, Thursday through Sunday Aug. 14.

Why Go: Food, rides and games.
