Events for the family.

It’s the last weekend of August and summer is slowly coming to an end, and we’ve come up with ideas to get you out and enjoy what’s left of the warm nights with both indoor and outdoor events. Hopefully, the weather will participate as well!

1. Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd,  Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, liscots.org., Saturday, Aug. 27 @ 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a day of bagpipe music, dancing, singing and Celtic vendors and Scottish food. There will be games and events for children.

Pricing: $15 adults, $10 seniors, $5 children.

2. Long Island Conservatory of Music: Eighth Annual International Music Competition

Where/When: Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater of Eisenhower Park, 1899 Hempstead Turnpike,  East Meadow, liconservatory.net, Sunday Aug. 28 @ 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: Winners’ concert features classical works performed by a symphony orchestra, with a dance presentation.

Pricing: Free.

3. Nassau County Craft and Gift Show

Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, 516-442-6000, nassaucountycraftshows.com., Saturday and Sunday Aug. 27 & 28 @ 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Why Go: A variety of goods, created by local craftsman and artists will be featured.

Pricing: Free.

4. Shenole Latimer

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, 1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay, 516-922-8600,  plantingfileds.org., Friday, Aug. 26 @ 6 p.m.

Why Go: Hear modern jazz ensemble by Shenole Latimer in concert.

Pricing: Free.

5. Murder Among Friends

Where/When: Arena Players in East Farmingdale, 296 Rt. 109, East Farmingdale, 516-293-0674, arenaplayers.org., Friday and Saturday @ 8 p.m., Sunday @ 3 p.m., through Sept. 3.

Why Go: See the thriller by Bob Barry, set on New Year’s Eve, where someone is murdered, but not the murder that was planned.
