Get Out: Weekend Planner, April 8-10

Here are some fun activities this weekend.

A new play over at the Cultural Playhouse in Plainview, a craft show at Eisenhower Park, two fundraisers - one in Oyster Bay and one in Jericho - or an afternoon at the movies right here in Syosset are all part of the upcoming weekend events.

Why Go: See the opening of "A New Brain",  about a frustrated songwriter who is stuck writing stories for a children’s television show. He suffers a brain injury and puts life in perspective.

Why Go: Various vendors will be offering a variety of goods, created by local craftsmen and artists.

3. “Doo Wop” Concert Fundraiser

Where/When: Oyster Bay High School Performing Arts Center, 150 East Main Street, Oyster Bay, NY 631-587-3565, Saturday April 9 @ 7-11 p.m.

Why Go: Oyster Bay High School presents A Night of Music and Memories featuring Emil Stuccio and the Classics, Jimmy Gallagher and the Passions, John Kuse and the Excellents and Joe Favale and the Emotions. Event is to raise money for Oyster Bay High School Performing Arts Center.

Pricing: $45.00

4. 8th Annual Night of Laughter Fundraiser

Where/When: Milleridge Cottage, 585 N. Broadway, Jericho, NY, 516-433-9745, www.thesarahgracefoundation.org , Friday April 8, @ 7:15-11:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Sarah Grace Foundation  for children with cancer will hold its 8th annual night of laughter fundraiser with a comedy show and dinner along with beer, wine, coffee and dessert to raise funds for the Hicksville not for profit organization dedicated to helping children and their families overcome the challenges brought on by childhood cancer.

 5. Film –

Where/When: 225 S. Oyster Bay Rd., Syosset, 516-921-7161, http://syossetlibrary.org, Sunday April 10 @ 2 p.m.

Why Go: See a quirky dark comedy film featuring a washed up wrestler, and his manager and a forlorn South American town cica1961, where the two travel,  organizing wrestling exhibitions. Spanish with English subtitles.
