Get Out: Weekend Planner for Sept. 3-5

There is a lot to do with your family during this long weekend.

It’s Labor Day weekend and the official end of the summer.  We’ve come up with things to do both near and far to help you get out and enjoy the three-day weekend.

1. Olde Time Music Weekend

Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration,  1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, 516-572-8400, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3-4 @ 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Listen to popular music from the Civil War period. Visitors can learn traditional 1800s contra-dancing and listen to the sounds of a brass military band.

Pricing: $10 adults, $7 ages 5-12

2. Derby Tournament

Where/When: Skate Safe America, 182 Bethpage Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage, 631-891-5887, www.lonislandrollerrebels.com., Saturday, Sept. 3 @ 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: The Long Island Roller Rebels host a New York State flat track roller derby tournament, featuring New York teams that compete in timed challenge bouts. Equipment will be for sale. Bring a chair.

Pricing: $20 advance, $25 at door

3. Labor Day Weekend Activities

Where/When: , 1230 New Highway, Republic Airport, East Farmingdale, 631-293-6398,  Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 3-5 @ 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Special features include Tuskegee Tribute Flight, Naval Aviation salute and “Pattons’s armor parade."

Pricing: $15 seniors; $10 veterans; $5 children

4. Hampton Classic Horse Show

Where/When: The Hampton Classic, 240 Snake Hollow Road, Bridgehampton, 631-537-3177, hamptonclissic.com., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3-5. Gates open at 8 a.m.

Why Go: See more than 1,500 horses on 65-acre show grounds. The world's best horses and riders, including riders from seven countries, will come together at the 36th annual Hampton Classic Horse Show.

Pricing: $10, $20 carload. Bring nonperishable food items and get free admission.

5. Beginner’s Mountain Bike Ride

Where/When: , 98 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Farmingdale, 631-421-6131, Saturday, Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a ride that is sponsored by the Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists. Meet in the grass island in the picnic area. Helmets and eye protection required.
