Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

1. Registration Day for Art of Pie

  • Where/When: Register on February 2 for Art of Pie to be held at the Syosset Public Library on February 16, 225 South Oyster Bay Road, Syosset.  516-921-7161
  • Why Go: It's all about pi and math. So be fruitful and mulitply and divide while baking a pie.  For grades three through five.
  • Pricing: $3

2. Nutrition Education and Youth Fitness Classes PLUS Mom's Night Out

  • Where/When: February 2 and February 4, (February 3 at 7pm for mom’s night out at Club Mom, same location). One Potato, Two Tomato at 601 West Jericho Turnpike, Huntington.  Call or register on-line for the different age group trial sessions: 516-286-5255 
  • Why Go:  Check out the grand opening of this newly relocated center specializing in healthy lifestyle education and wellness for moms, babies, kids, tweens, and teens.
  • Pricing:  FREE

3. Reptiles & Rainforest, Mommy & Me Classes at Atlantis

  • Where/When: 9:15am-10:00am OR 3:00pm-3:45pm. Atlantis Marine World located at: 431 East Main Street, Riverhead.  Phone: 631 208-9200 ext. 426.  For ages four to five.  Series dates:  February 3, 10, 17, 24
  • Why Go: It’s a bit of a schlep but so worth it because moms love seeing the wildlife just as much as the kids
  • Pricing: Members: $40.00 per series, Non-Members: $60.00 per series, (Includes Admission for one adult and one child)

4. Arts and Crafts Night at McDonald’s

  • Where/When: February 3 at 5pm until 7pm.  280 North Broadway, Hicksville.  Call for more info: 516-681-2434 
  • Why Go: It’s more than just crafts, there’s going to be games and playtime, too. 
  • Pricing:  FREE, Happy Meal specials for $1.99

5. Pilobolus at the Tilles Center

  • Where/When: February, 4 at 8pm.  C.W. Post Campus Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Greenvale.  Phone: 516 299-3100
  • Why Go:  A must see; since 1971 this internationally renowned dance company creatively morphs and contorts human bodies into unexpected and amusing shapes. The timing is during the evening, so it’s best for big kids and adults, of course.
