Grab and Go Kids Planner, Feb. 25-27

Check out these events for the kids this weekend.

With winter recess almost over, and the kids getting restless, there are things to do to end the week on a high note.

The Long Island Children’s Museum offers cyber chase fun, or head over to the Nassau County Museum of Art for art space fun. Elmo is having a birthday, come help celebrate at Borders, or have a tea party with your favorite doll. And for some Winter fun, indoor ice skating over at Cantiague Park  is an option. 

1. Cyberchase Fun

Why Go: Exhibit invites children to join the Cyber Squad on an adventure to thwart the villain Hacker using their math and reasoning skills. The exhibit presents math in a fun, kid-friendly environment. Based on PBS kid’s series Cyberchase-The Chase is on!

Pricing:  Free with museum admission.

2. Family Day at the Art Space

 Where/When:  Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Drive, Roslyn Harbor, NY 516-484-9337, http:// www.nassaumuseum.org , Saturday Feb. 26, 1 p.m.  and 3 p.m.    

Why Go:  There will be art making and storytelling for children and their families, led by trained museum docents. Activities include creating art and poetry inspired by the illustrations by Robert Searle and rhymes by Robert L. Forbes in

Pricing: Free with museum admission, admission to the Art Space is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for students (children 4-12).  Children under 4 are free.

3.  Elmo’s Birthday

Where/When:  , 425 Jericho Tpke, Syosset, NY 11791, Feb. 26, 2 p.m.

Why Go:  Help Celebrate Elmo's  birthday with music, stories, crafts and more (not a costume character event). 

Pricing: Free.

4. Tea with Dolly and Me

Where/When: 1750 , 2 High St. Huntington, NY. 631-427-7045, ext. 401, http://huntingtonhistoricasociety.org , Thursday and Friday, Feb. 24 & 25 at 1-3 p.m.

Why Go: Children ages 7-12 can bring their favorite doll and tea cup. There will be finger sandwiches, sweets and tea, and historical dolls will be on display. Space limited, reservations required.

Pricing: $15 per child, $5.00 for accompanying adult.

5. Ice Skating

Where/When: Cantiague Park, West John Street, Hicksville, NY. 516-571-7056. Daily.

Why Go:  Cantiague’s indoor rink is a wonderful facility that is used by recreational skaters and hockey teams.  It’s been rated by News 12 as the best on Long Island.

Pricing: Adults $5.50 with leisure pass. $12.00 without. Children $3.50 with leisure pass, $8.00 without. $4.00 skate rental fee
