Grab and Go Kids Planner: July 28 - 31

Here are some fun events for the kids this weekend.

There is a lot going on to help you get the kids out as we reach the mid-summer point this weekend.

1. Mermaid Tea Party

Where/When: Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, 301 Main Str., Cold Spring Harbor, 631-367-3418, cshwhalingmuseum.org., Sunday July 31 @ 5 p.m.

Why Go: Children ages 4-9 get to be a mermaid for a day. Decorate a tiara, play a mermaid game and drink mermaid tea. (which tastes like lemonade)  The event includes a showing of Disney’s  “The Little Mermaid," reserve.

Pricing: $8.00.

2. Hoop Hoop Hooray!

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., East Garden City, 224-5800, licm.org, Saturday July 30 @ 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join in for a fun spinning session  and hula-hoop your way to good health. Create a special hula salad, for all ages.

Pricing: Free with museum admission.

3. Children’s Show

Where/When: Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, 516-572-0355, Sunday July 31 @ 4-7 p.m.

Why Go: See a Production of the Wizard of Oz, have your face painted, rides, balloon artists and more.

Pricing: Free.

4. Huntington Summer Arts Festival: Mally Lewis & Lamp Chop

Where/When: Heckscher Park, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington, 631-271-8423, huntingtonarts.org, Friday July 29 @ 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: See Mally Lewis (daughter of the late Shari Lewis) perform  with   sock puppet Lamp chop.

5. The Jungle Book

Where/When: Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium, 180 Little Neck Rd., Centerport, 631-854-5562, www.vanderbiltmuseum.org,  weekends  @ 2 p.m. through August 28

Why Go:  See the classic tale performed live by the Arena Players Children’s Theater where children are invited to join in on the fun.

Pricing: $10 adults, $8 children.
