Grab and Go Kids Planner: July 8-10

Check out some fun events for the kids this weekend.

Take the kids to learn about animals both on land or at sea, have them build a bird house, see a circus or just have some fun at a park. All part of what’s going on this weekend on Long Island for kids.

1. Ocean Science Sunday: Operation Deep Sea

Where/When: Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, 301 Main Str., Cold Spring Harbor, 631-367-3418, http://www.cshwhalingmuseum.org. Sunday July 10 @ 2 p.m.

Why Go: Children ages 5-12 can learn about glowing animals at the bottom of the sea and create a water globe.

Pricing: $8.00.

2. Garden Explorers

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, oldwestburygardens.org., weekly beginning Friday July 8 through August 12 @ 4-5 p.m.

Why Go: Children will learn about animals native to Long Island through hands-on activities and hikes. For ages 6-12, register.

Pricing: $50 per class or $50 for all classes

3. Feathered Family Fun

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, East Garden City, 516-224-5800, LICM.org, Friday July 8 @1-4 p.m.

Why Go: Design a family birdhouse using wood pieces, paint and other material, for children ages 3 and older.

Pricing: $4.00 with museum admission.

4. Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars

Where/When: Westfield Sunrise Shopping Mall, One Sunrise Mall, Massapequa, 888-332-5200, Friday July 8-10 @ 5 and 8 p.m.

Why Go: Laugh with the clowns and marvel at the feats of daring performances at the circus that has been around for over 100 years, for children and adults of all ages.

Pricing: $19, $14 for children ages 2-12, visit website for free kids ticket information.

5. Children’s Festival and Safety Day

Where/When: John J. Burns Park, Merrick Road, Massapequa,  516-797-7925 oysterbaytown.com, Saturday July 9 @ 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: Entertainment, games, and food.
