Grab and Go Kids Planner: June 17-19

Check out some fun events for the kids this weekend.

The weekend is almost here and we’ve come up with ideas for things to do with the kids, and since this is Father’s Day weekend as well, we’ve also found some places the kids can help celebrate Dad’s special day.

1. Community Gallery: Art Expressions for Kids

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., East Garden City, 516-224-5800, licm.org, weekly through June 30 @ 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Why Go: See the work that features young artists involved in various Nassau County mental health programs.

Pricing: Free with museum admission.

2. Father’s Day Craft

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury NY, 516-333-0048, Sunday June 19, @ 12-2 p.m.

Why Go: Fast forward your at-home veggie garden. Create handmade markers to label plants and watch that fast food grow! Children are invited to create a Father’s Day craft with pond stones.

Pricing: $10.00

3. Daddy and Me Rocket Building

Where/When: Center for Science Teaching and Learning, 1 Tanglewood Rd., Rockville Centre, 516-764-0045, www.cstl.org., Sunday June 19 @ 9 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Celebrate Father’s Day by building and launching a rocket together. Register

Pricing: $20 per child, which includes materials, $5.00 for adults, Dads are free.

4. Heckscher Museum of Art

Where/When: Heckscher Museum of Art, 2 Prime Ave., Huntington, 631-351-3250, @ 11 a.m-5 p.m.

Why Go: Bring Dad or your grandfather to the museum and they will get free admission for the day.

Pricing: Free.

5. Nutcracker Auditions

Where/When: Ballet Long Island, 1863 Pond Rd., Ronkonkoma, Saturday, (631) 737-1964 June 18 @ 10 am

Why Go: Auditions being held for students to participate in a professional production of “The Nutcracker”, where if selected you will work with professional dancers in performances in November and December. For ages 7-18.
