1. Grandparents Day Craft Class

Why Go: Children will get an opportunity to make crafts for Grandparents Day (Sept. 11) with beading, shell crafts, and homemade cards.

2. Unraveling Nature’s Patterns
Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, Saturday, Sept. 10 @ 12 p.m.
Why Go: Kids can explore the organic art of nature in plant and wildlife patterns. Decipher why these mysterious frameworks exist and how they work to nature’s advantage. Create your own composition using natural elements collected along the way, for ages 6 and up.
Pricing: Free.
3. Fun with Butterflies
Where/When: Sweetbriar Nature Center, 62 Eckernkamp Dr., Smithtown, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11th @ noon- 1 p.m.
Why Go: Children are introduced to butterflies while walking through the butterfly house which is followed by a craft, children ages 3 and up, please register.

4. South Shore Fall Community Expo
Where/When: 5560 Old Sunrise Hwy., Massapequa, 855-222-3290, Saturday Sept. 10th @ 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Why Go: Carnival rides and games for the kids, entertainment, food and more.
Pricing: Entrance fee free.
5. Spies and The Sailing Circle
Where/When: Three Village Historical Society, 93 N. Country Rd., Setauket, 631-751-3730, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11 @ 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Why Go: Go see this family friendly exhibit where you can learn how a group of Long Island Patriots helped George Washington win the revolution.
Pricing: Adults: $5.00, Children $3.00 (under 12).
