Grab and Go: Sept. 16-18

Here are some fun things to do this weekend.

The weekend is almost here and we’ve found some fun things to do with the kids.

1. Sesame Street Live presents Elmo Makes Music

Where/When: Nassau Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale, 800-745-3000, nassaucoliseum.com., Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Jenny, an enthusiastic new music teacher, arrives on Sesame Street only to discover that her instruments are missing. Jenny's new Muppet friends quickly come to the rescue and discover "instruments" they never knew existed: rubber duckies, trash can lids and even cookie jars. Elmo and friends teach children that everyone can make and enjoy beautiful music together. Hear songs such as “You Should Be Dancing" and “The Alphabet Song.”

2. Alice in Wonderland’s Unbirthday Tea Party

Where/When: The Garden City Hotel, 45 Seventh St., Garden City, 516-747-3000, Gardencityhotel.com, Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Guests of all ages may journey down the rabbit hole, meet and greet with Alice, hear a reading from the Lewis Carroll classic and enjoy “delights” from the pastry chef. Costumes are welcome.

Pricing: $39, under 2 free

3. Kidsfest

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, Sunday, Sept. 18 at noon to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Kidsfest features a day of fun and educational activities with music, a petting zoo, chalk art, take home bulb planting, and more. Begin with a garden tour at 1 p.m.

Pricing: $10 for general admission; $8 for seniors; $5 for kids 7 to 17; free for kids 6 and under

4. Messy Afternoons

Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City, LICM.org, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 at 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: You’ll be up to your elbows in goop, shaving cream and play-doh. For children ages 18 months to age 4.

Pricing: Free with museum admission

5. Corn Maze

Where/When: Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park, 718-347-3276, weekly Saturday and Sunday through October 30 at 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Make your way out of a corn maze. Clues will be given. Solve puzzles. Bring a flashlight.

Pricing: $9 for general admission, $5 for children ages 5 to 11, free for children under 3
