Grab and Go: Sept. 23-25

There is a bunch going on this weekend for the kids.

Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend? We’ve come up with some ideas to help welcome in the first Fall weekend.

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Where/When: at Northport, 250 Main Street, Northport, 631-261-2900, www.​johnwengemantheater.​com/ Saturdays @ 11 a.m. and Sundays @ 10:30 a.m., through Nov. 6.

Why Go: See the play based on the children’s book by Roald Dahl about the adventures of a young boy, Charlie Bucket, who goes inside the chocolate factory of the eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka.

Pricing: $15.

2.  Family Fall and Halloween Festival

Where/When: , 7800 Jericho Tpke, Woodbury, NY 516-797-7925, www.oysterbaytown.com, Saturday, Sept. 24 @ 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: A family friendly festival that features a pumpkin patch, crafts, bounce house, games and refreshments. Sponsored by the Town of Oyster Bay’s Department of Community & Youth. Kids welcome to come in costume, rain or shine.

Pricing: Free.

3. "Fur-rari" Rally in Plainview

Where/When: , 65 S Service Rd, Plainview, NY 11803. Saturday, Sept. 24 starting at 9:30 a.m.

Why Go: Bring your four-legged friends, where The Little Shelter will host a light breakfast and introduce you to some of the shelter's furry friends who are in need of a good home.

Pricing: Donations are encouraged.

4. Salsa Festival

Where/When: , 11 Davis Ave., Garden City, 516-224-5800, licm.org., Saturday,  September 24 @ 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Join in as the LICM celebrates Hispanic Heritage month, by exploring salsa! Explore the unique style of salsa music that originated in Cuba and learn some basic salsa steps and make fresh salsa dip.

Pricing: Free with museum admission.

5. Storybook Stoll

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, NY 11568. (516) 333-0048, Saturday Sept. 24, @ 12 p.m.

Why Go: Fall down the rabbit hole to hear about Alice's journeys in a nonsensical world where caterpillars give advice and roses are painted red! Ramble through the gardens discovering locations akin to Wonderland where rabbits and other "wild" life make their homes.
