LIE Service Road Closures in Effect

Exits 42 and 43 closed Sunday through Thursday night.

LIE eastbound and westbound service roads on exit 42 and 43 will be shut down between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for road work.

The affected exits are Northern State Parkway, Robbins Lane, and South Oyster Bay Road.

Crews will be removing old highway signs and replacing them with more visible, high-reflective signs to enhance the safety of motorists and reduce energy and maintenance costs and disruptions to traffic.

Service road closures began last night between exits 42 and 43 in the eastbound direction. Once the eastbound LIE service road operations are completed through Riverhead (Exit 73), the westbound operations will begin and continue until all signs are replaced on the LIE service roads to the Nassau County/Queens border.

To reduce the impact on motorists, there will be no lane closures in the westbound direction on Sunday nights.

The work is expected to continue for approximately four weeks.
