North Shore-LIJ Army Vet Hurls First Pitch at Mets' Game

Donald Grande, an emergency medical technician at Syosset-based North Shore-LIJ Center for Emergency Medical Services, threw out the first pitch at Wednesday's New York Mets' game. Pitcher Bartolo Colon looked on.

Grande returned to work last fall after a nearly year-long stint with the U.S. Army Reserves in Bahrain.

Nearly 10,000 North Shore-LIJ employees and family members cheered him on at the game. They were there courtesy of health system trustee and Mets' president Saul Katz, who donated the tickets.
