Are you wondering what to do for this weekend? Patch has planned it out for you and the best part…some of the events are FREE. Here are eight things to do that are either located right here in Syosset, or a town or so away:

SATURDAY

located in the Marshall’s shopping center is holding an open house and FREE trial classes on Saturday at noon and 3pm.  Call 516-364-3413 to schedule one of the introductory Body and Brain Evaluations for children ages four to 15.  Located at 567 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset. 

 Music by the Bay

There is no charge to enjoy live music on Saturday from musical performer, Cecelia Kirkland, from 8 pm until 11 pm at Jack Halyards American Bar & Grill, 62 South Street, Oyster Bay.  Phone: 516-922-2999

Songs of Love and Courtship

The age of Shakespeare is brought to life Saturday at 8 pm with Elizabethan music from Renaissance lute songs with Morrongiello & Young. This program is made possible by the Town of Oyster Bay Distinguished Artists Series.  Besides lute songs there will be fantasias of instrumental dance, voice and Renaissance harp. No tickets required for this FREE event held at the   First come first served; the library theater doors will open 30 minutes before the performance.  225 South Oyster Bay Road, Syosset.

Book on Over

On Saturday at 6 pm, Long Island author and photographer, Rob Goldman, will be at for a book signing and lecture about his new tome, Shooting from the Heart: Creating Passion and Purpose in Your Life and Work.  Copies will be available for sale.  Located at: One Guilles Lane, Woodbury.

SUNDAY

CSI for Kids

Who’s leaving clues in the woods?  Go on an adventure to help solve the mystery of the forest and join the Bailey Arboretum naturalist guides to investigate from 2 pm until 3 pm.   The event is FREE but donations are appreciated. Located at Bayville Road and Feeks Lane, Lattingtown.

Put Your Bell Bottoms On

If you are heading to the South Shore, Massapequa Public Library is holding another FREE Town of Oyster Bay Distinguished Artists Series concert on Sunday at 2 pm until 4 pm with live music from guitarist and singer, Naomi Zeitlin performing music of the 70’s. Located at: 40 Harbor Lane, Massapequa Park.

Cactus for Charity

If you haven’t already booked your beauty service or spa appointments at for their happening on Sunday from 11 am until 4 pm, then stop in to purchase tickets for the Chinese Auction to benefit the Carol Kestenbaum Foundation and One Is Greater Than None. Amazing prizes await you.   100% of proceeds go to both charities. Located at:  348 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset.

Social Climbing

Calling all singles to book a rezzie now for a fun rock climbing experience at Island Rock on Sunday at 3:30 pm, brought to you by Seven-in-Heaven Singles.  There will be one climbing instructor per six people working with you for one and half hours and you may even learn how to tie the knot, for the ropes, that is.
