Suozzi Races with 'Tri Dems' in TOBAY Triathlon

Nassau Executive candidate competes in race Saturday.

They called themselves the "Tri-Dems."

Democrats Nassau County Executive Candidate Tom Suozzi, District Attorney Kathleen Rice, and LD 18 Candidate Dave Gugerty tested the limits of their endurance Saturday at the annual Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon.

Suozzi took on the 15 kilometer (9 mile) bike portion, while Gugerty took on the swimming and Rice took on the running portions of the course.

The team took a total of 1 hour 26 minutes and 33 seconds to finish the race, landing them in 7th place for the co-ed relay (out of 19 teams) and 23rd overall.

Suozzi, who served as Nassau County Executive from 2002-2010, is once again running for Nassau’s top post against Mangano. He ran for a third term in 2009 but lost a close election to current Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano. The former mayor of Glen Cove also ran for New York Governor in 2006 but lost a Democratic primary to Eliot Spitzer.

The campaign is well underway. See a breakdown of how much they've raised and who are their biggest supporters here.
