A power outage hit the Syosset LIRR station and 594 Syosset residents Tuesday afternoon.

MTA officials announced the Syosset station on Jackson Avenue lost lights, ticket vending machines, and platform signs in the outage.

"Today's outage was due to a burned primary wire," LIPA officials announced.

As of 12:30 p.m., the Syosset LIRR was restored for travelers, according to MTA. A crew was assigned to the north Syosset area to fix the outage.

According to the Long Island Power Authority, 594 residents in north Syosset were stuck in the outage at one point.

For more information, customers can contact LIPA at (800) 490-0025.

Joe, not clear on the cause yet. We'll update if we get that info. Laura, that stinks! An outage on a clear and non-boiling hot day like today is strange.
