Caracalla Restaurant Demolished Tuesday

Caracalla Restaurant was demolished over six months after a fire tore through the Syosset eatery. A midnight fire in July all but destroyed the Jericho Turnpike restaurant. 150 firefighters from ten different departments battled the blaze for over 40 minutes before it was brought under control.

NYSED: Syosset State Aid to Drop

The New York State Education Department announced preliminary district aid estimates for the 2013-14 school year Tuesday. The estimates included a nearly 3 percent drop in aid for the Syosset School District.

Restaurants were targeted in several burglaries within one week in the Syosset area, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives at the Second Precinct said that of six of 11 reported burglaries last week targeted local restaurants.

Cops: Rash of Car Damage Near Syosset

Cars around the Second Precinct were targeted in a rash of criminal mischief, cops said.

According to Nassau County Police, eight vehicles, both personal and commercial, were reportedly damaged across the precinct.

John McEnroe Program Comes to Sportime

Syosset Sportime will host a "10 and Under Tennis" program Saturday as part of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.

Tennis star John McEnroe will head to Sportime Bethpage Tennis where fans will watch him train and coach local tennis standouts. McEnroe and world-class trained staff will coach John McEnroe Academy of Tennis "Rising Stars."
