North Shore Synagogue Presents Cinema and Discussion

On Wednesday, April 28, North Shore Synagogue is proud to present a screening of Cast a Giant Shadow, a 1966 American movie based on Ted Berman's biography of the life of Col. Mickey Marcus, an American Jew who served as a military advisor to the Hagannah during the War for Independence.  His incredible journey, from fighting in Europe during WWII to serving as Israel's first general in nearly 2000 years is considered to be generally historically accurate.  The star-studded cast is led by Kirk Douglas (Colonel Marcus) and includes appearances by John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Angie Dickenson, and Yul Brynner.  Cast a Giant Shadow is being shown to celebrate Israeli Independence Day, which takes place on April 25.   Screening is followed by a lively discussion and light refreshments will be served.  No charge, and open to the public
