1. Bamboo Art and Brush Making

2. The Silly Dilly Band
Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City, 516-224-5800, LICM.org, Friday Aug. 12 @ 2 p.m.
Why Go: Children ages 3 and up listen to live children’s musical band perform high energy music for the family.
Pricing: $4.00 with museum admission.
3. Display of Tractors and Engines
Where/When: Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, 20 Sagamore Hill Rd., Cove Neck, NY 516-922-4788, Sunday August 14 @ 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Why Go: A display of pre-World War II tractors, farm engines and other farm equipment provided by the Long Island Antique Power Association.

4. Movie: “The Smurfs”

Why Go: See the animated family comedy about The Smurfs. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the Smurfs out of their village, they're forced through a portal, out of their normal world.

5. Create a Fish Windsock

Why Go: Children will learn stories about the Japanese culture as they create their own beautiful fish windsocks. Grades 1-5.
