STEM Magnet School Opens in Syosset

Meet the class of 2017 at LI's first regional STEM magnet school.

Long Island's first regional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) magnet school has opened in Syosset.

The Doshi STEM Program is run through Nassau BOCES and is held in a wing of the Long Island High School for the Arts on Cold Spring Road. The four-year, half-day program immerses students in science and math courses taught through an interdisciplinary curriculum focusing on STEM-related industries. Instruction features field trips to labs and research facilities, state-of-the-art-technology, and access to advanced AP.

The tuition is $7,400, paid for by the home school district. The courses are led by STEM instructors who are New York State dually certified in math and science.

Twenty three students are in the first freshman class, which started last week. Meet them in the attached video. For more info on the program, visit the Doshi STEM program's website.
