Bites Nearby: Cheeburger Cheeburger

The only thing missing about this 50's style restaurant are the girls in poodle skirts and boys in sweater vests.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Cheeburger Cheeburger

Overview: If you want to feel like you’ve been thrown back into the 1950’s, then is the place you should go. From the music to the decorations on the walls, it looks like the 1950’s. You would almost expect girls in poodle skirts and guys in sweater vests with button down shirts to be eating at the table or booth next to you.

Decor: There are metal tables with matching metal chairs decorated in a blue leather type fabric. The walls are plain white but decorated with signs that look like they could be from the 1950’s. Right when you walk in, there is a ‘bar’ of sorts that you can sit at and order from if you’re getting a ‘to go’ package. Though there are only windows at the front of the restaurant, the retro drop lights make the place bright and welcoming.

The Drinks: There are a variety of drinks that you can get. You can get Dr. Pepper, root beer, or cola floats, or an ice cream soda that come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or black and white. There is even a ‘shake a soda’ that lets you create your own original drink taste and an old fashioned egg cream (which, by the way, is not made with any actual eggs).

Appetizers: These consist of french fries and onion rings. The french fries range from a small serving (that feeds 1-2 people) to a large serving (which feeds 4-5 people). They come plain but the wait staff will sprinkle seasoning on them right at your table. The skins are left on. The onion rings are dipped in a secret batter and also come in small-large servings. Can decide? You can have both in a ‘best of both’ basket. It comes in a half size serving or a regular size serving. You can ask for different types of sauces from a variety of them such as creamy cheese, Texas horseradish, Habanera Jelly, Creamy Jalapeno, and Chile lime.

Entrees:

Burgers: You can get burgers like the "One Pounder" which is 20 ounces of beef.  If you finish it all, they will take a picture of you and put it up on the wall of fame in the store. There is also "The Delirious" which is fourteen ounces, the Serious: 10 ounces, the Semi Serious: 7 ounces and finally The Classic: 5.5 ounces.

Then there is the grilled Portobello mushroom sandwich which is served on a Kaiser roll. The grilled cheese comes with a choice of white bread or rye bread and two types of cheeses.

****all burgers, melts, sandwiches, and the grilled cheese come with the choice of adding any topping you would want from the toppings section of the menu. Toppings include sauces, cheeses, and garnishes.
