Bites Nearby: Graffiti

A great place to eat with the family.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Overview: Great American type food without the large cost. A great family restaurant or a place to celebrate the soon to be end of school.

Decor: The restaurant is a very homey type restaurant. The walls are beige with white trim and it has a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There is also a fireplace on one side which is made out of dark wood. I felt it was less like a restaurant and more like someone’s house. It makes you feel really comfortable when you go inside.

The Drinks:

  • A selection of domestic and imported beers
  • Soft Drinks

  • Maryland Crab Cake
  • Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail
  • Short Rib Flatbread
  • BBQ Scallops
  • Prosciutto Di Parma

  • Petite Chicken Meatloaf - Though this meatloaf is made of chicken, it still has the rich flavor of a regular beef meatloaf. I was very surprised about how juicy and tender it was as well as flavorful.
  • Espresso Chili Rubbed Skirt Steak – Espresso, chili and steak? It didn’t seem to sound like a good combination but it was delicious. The steak itself was even tender and easy to eat.

  • Roast Beet Salad
  • Winter Green
  • Cob
  • Mama Loo’s

  • French Onion
  • Butternut Squash & Apple
  • Soup of the Day

  • Warm Chocolate Cake
  • Cheesecake
  • Banana Mousse Cake
  • Red Velvet Sundae
  • Fresh Berry “Napoleon”
  • Bakes Apple Crisp

Service: It feels like family when you are served at Graffiti. Not only do they smile and are prompt but they try to get to know you on a personal level. The wait staff likes to joke around with the customers as they take the orders. They also like to tease each other. I found it to be a very inviting place.

Signature Dish: Natural Onion Crusted Chicken

Address: 8285 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury

Cost: $$

I always like Graffiti, and was looking forward to their expansion. Unfortunately, along with the expansion has come an increase in prices and the elimination of several lower priced more "casual" entrees. Even more troublesome was the fact that one night we were seated at the bar because our table wasnt ready, only to be led to a dining room with multiple empty tables after we had a drink we didn;t really want.

I agree that Graffiti has good food, but has became way to pricey. My Uncle was visiting us and took my sister and I out to a place called the Boston Market. It was a cafeteria style restaurant with quite a good selection. They have great Beef Brisket, Turkey, Rotisserie Chicken and the Meat loaf was the best I ever had. The Sante Fe Salad has a real kick, and both the Broccoli Cheese soup and the ButterNut Squash are to die for. My Sister loved the creamed spinach, but it was to filling for me. Instead I saved my appetite for their wonderful chocolate cake and cinnamon apple pie. The food and selection at Boston Market is pretty comparable to Grafitti- but at a much more palatable price.
