Chipotle to Open Around Valentine's Day

Corporate representatives say Syosset franchise will open in February.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is due to open in Syosset around Valentine's Day.

The popular chain is likely to open their doors on Jericho Turnpike within the month, likely by Valentine's Day, according to corporate representatives.

According to libn.com, the Syosset franchise will be the 11th Chipotle on Long Island.

The newly constructed 2,500-square-foot extension to the strip of stores has been completed and indoor lighting fixtures have been hung. The location, owned by Bellmore's MGD Investments, is part of a strip that also includes Gabby's Gourmet Bagelatessen, Shake Cups, Sherwin Williams Paints, and Sprint.

“This site will be a premier center with retail and three food restaurants with amazing synergy,” said MGD's Larry Weinberger, according to libn.com.

Chipotle has more than 1,400 locations worldwide. Competition from other restaurants like Taco Bell have fueled the company's aim to offer more, so they will be providing catering options to customers soon, according to Bloomberg. Stocks fell five percent Wednesday in its biggest decline since Oct. 19, but the company continues expanding to the West Coast and opened an Asian-themed restaurant in Washington in 2011, reported Bloomberg.

The Syosset Chipotle currently lists open positions for crew members who prepare ingredients and restaurant team members who assemble meals and complete transactions. Apply for a job at the Syosset Chipotle here.

Folks, before Dr. Steve starts ripping this place apart, give it a try for yourself! As a strict vegetarian for nearly 30 years, I have been hooked on Chipotle (and by "hooked," I mean 4-5 times a week) since 2008. The food is fresh, "clean," and healthy, and the staff at every Chipotle I have been to (and I've been to A LOT) has some kind of extra special energy. This is NOT Moe's or Green Cactus, if you know what I mean. The place is great for vegetarians. I order the same three-ingredient burrito every time: Extra rice, black beans, and guacamole. Nothing in the world makes me happier. However, if you're a carnivore and you like "spicy," their chicken, beef, and pork will supposedly take your head off, in a good way. I'm not crazy about the location they have chosen. The turn off Jericho Turnpike into that parking lot has been deadly since the days when Crazy Eddie was there. I only hope people are careful and that those who order take-out can wait until they are safely out of the parking lot before they start tearing into their burritos!

How could TOB approve this Chipotle at that location. The entrance and exit situation is going to be a disaster.
