Delays, Cancellations Expected Tuesday After Derailment

LIRR tells commuters to expect delays and cancellations Tuesday.

The morning commute from Syosset could be complicated on Tuesday as LIRR continues to recover from Monday's derailment.

After an incident in an East River tunnel sparked multiple delays and cancellations during the Monday evening commute, LIRR travelers should make preparations in case of more interruptions.

"Customers should anticipate train cancellations and delays during the AM Peak," LIRR stated in an alert. "Amtrak personnel will be working throughout the night into the morning to assess the damage and make repairs."

LIRR said customers can keep an eye out for updates on their website.

Off peak service between Penn Station and Jamaica was restored at about 10 p.m. Monday night, according to LIRR.
