DSW Almost Ready to Open
New Syosset store in final stages of preparation for opening.
Borders bookstore is almost a memory as DSW shoe retailer prepares for its grand opening this fall.
A fresh sign near the street has replaced the last visible piece of Borders and now displays the DSW logo. On the building's facade, shoe murals cover the walls leading to the front entrance. The last visible bits of Borders remain on the windows of the store.

The Syosset Borders officially closed their doors in September 2011, after months of speculation,bankruptcy confirmation, and everything-must-go sales. The property was briefly inhabited by Spirit Halloween, a short-term Halloween store. See a full recap of the Borders lifespan here.
DSW representatives could not be reached for an official grand opening date as of this report. Patch will update as more information becomes available.
