No. 67: Have a Chocolate Party at Basketworks

If you are a chocoholic, this is the place for you.

In our weekly countdown, we are tapping into your sweet-tooth at Basketworks. For over 20 years, this store- originally in Woodbury- has been supplying the community with the most amazing gift baskets. They're filled with the finest hand-crafted chocolates created right here in Syosset.

Located in the Syosset Plaza strip, this shop is not just about confections. They have a vast array of unique toys and gifts for all ages.

They also offer birthday parties seven days a week. To find the fun and festive party room, look for the large ribbons of candy dots painted on the walls. Although the parties are mostly for kids, they do offer adult candy-making workshops.

Some birthday party themes are Pucker Powder Candy Art, S'mores Making, Pretzel Dipping, and Chocolate Decorating. While waiting for your masterpiece to solidify, you can choose to sing along with the karaoke machine, run relay races, dance on bubble wrap, play candy bingo and more.

When you visit, ask about their signature creations such as chocolate-covered pretzels loaded with one of 10 toppings artfully arranged in a basket. Also check out their Thanksgiving chocolate cornucopia overflowing with dipped chocolates and nuts or one of their novelty items such as a chocolate champagne bottle inscribed with any message.

Keep in mind that this is an excellent source for custom sleep-away camp gift baskets. They can fill it to the brim with whatever you want.

They proudly boast the use of genuine gourmet chocolate. While others use oil, they only use high quality cocoa butter. If the store is not too busy, which it often is, you might be lucky enough to take a peek at their tempering machines used for enrobing and hand dipping.

The store changes according to the holidays, so each visit will have you feeling the love of Valentines, the celebration of spring, or the splendor of Santa's Workshop.

Baskets can be hand-delivered locally or shipped anywhere overnight in the United States.

The man at this establishment is shameful. My child. Got hurt and he showed no concern. I would NEVER go back!

I totally agree with above comment . The owner is shameful. I paid for my child's birthday party in full and she got sick and he wouldn't let us reschedule or give us our money back and he had 2 months notice! We notified all the local children's groups ie: Girl Scouts so they don't have the same problem.
