No. 88: Get Certified to Scuba Dive at Seascapes

Take the plunge and get lessons at this certified facility.

In our weekly countdown, this week we are spreading our fins to take on the challenge of learning how to scuba dive at Seascapes USA.

This is not just a retailer of diving equipment, it's a total experience. From the minute you enter the store you feel like you have been transported to the tropics.  There are racks and racks of dry suits, wetsuits, snorkeling equipment, and more. Everything that you would need for diving is here, including the heated pool! There is also a curio case filled with items found on local shipwreck dives.

This Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) 5-star dive center offers everything from recreational through the professional level as well as technical dive training.

For those who want to get your feet wet, you can start out by taking a basic course called Discover Scuba for $65.  This introductory lesson goes for about a half to one full hour in their heated pool on the premises.

If you find that you are wanting more they will credit the fee of the intro class towards their Open Water Scuba course. For $350 per person you will receive a minimum of three lessons or however long it takes so that you are a confident diver. For added convenience, they will schedule your lessons at times that work with your schedule. All you will need is your mask, fins, and snorkel gear.  If you don't have your own, you can purchase these items at the shop.

For the experienced diver, they offer local shipwreck dives off the south shore waters and even international dives to places like Fiji.

If you are at a loss for creative birthday party ideas, Seascapes offers scuba parties too, but only during the winter months.  Call for more info.
