These are fine restaurants, but my favorite is Christiano's in Syosset. Legend has it that it's the inspiration for Billy Joel's "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant." I've taken both my best girls, daughters Emily and Katie, there.

Christiano's? Are you for real? That place is terrible. If you want to eat well cook at home...Yes I know that takes effort but it is well worth it....

That "legend" is false. How long are they going to keep perpetuating that lie? I was at one of his concerts when he described the place he was singing about and said it was closed long ago and it was in another town. So let's put this "legend" to bed.

Sorry, guys, I have such great memories of that place, especially when it was more like a bar, years ago. And the Billy Joel "Legend" was so perpetuated that the owners actually had it in their menu for years. After all, Troy is a legend, and we still talk about Helen and Paris, Achilles and the Trojan Horse..... We all need a good legend now and then, especially on Valentine's Day.

The restaurant was sold and operated by another local family. Recently, Christiano's was sold back to the family of the prior owners. At least that's what their recent advertising says....So maybe the recipes and food change as well under each owner.

I am pushing 50 and I had never, ever sent anything back at a restaurant until Christiano's a little while ago, I sent it back and asked for nothing else, it wasn't worth taking the chance. The visits leading up to that one were disappointing. You are right though, and I will always have many fond memories of Christiano's, and now memories will be all that I visit as far as Christiano's goes.

I've been to Christiano's and loved it! Hope to go back soon.

I vote Angelinas! My husband and I have never had a bad meal there, their service is extraordinary and very romantic!

That makes sense. Joe Dowd probably hasn't been to Christiano's (or any other restaurant) in the last deacde.

Greek: In fact, Adina and I, along with other Patch staffers had a delightful meal there a few months back. And Patch paid, which contributed to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Other than that, however, you're right. It's been 10 years at least.

I enjoy Christiano's, with or without the legend. It's even better with the new owners back. Good food, great prices. Not a stellar dining experience like Caracalla but we go to Christiano's with the kids and have never had a bad meal.
