The winner of the Readers' Choice Award for best sporting goods store goes to Woodbury Sports. The nearly 30-year-old business has stayed at the top by doing one thing: staying in touch with the community.
"It's one stop shopping," said Roberta Dochter of Syosset. "They are friendly and there is always someone ready to help you find what you need. If they don't have it, they'll order it for you."
That combination of big sporting goods store selection and neighborly customer service is what has kept people coming back.

"Customers who came here at four years old are now going off to college," said Woodbury Sports manager Justin Abbott. "It really is a family, neighborhood store."
Boiled down to the simplest reason Woodbury Sports tops the Syosset sporting goods market, Abbott said simply, "We listen to our customers."
