Syosset Bank to Move Location

Bank of America closes its Jackson Avenue location on Friday and opens up its new location at Jericho Turnpike and South Oyster Bay Road, on Monday November 22.

You've heard about mobile banking? One Syosset bank will soon be on the move.

Bank of America officials have announced that as of 2 p.m. on Friday, they're closing . They plan to re-open Monday at 9 a.m. at their new building on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and South Oyster Bay Road.

Workers at the bank have been handing out pamphlets to customers, explaining the change.

T.J. Crawford, a Senior Vice President of Media Relations for Bank of America, said two main reasons for the move are convenience and the size of the new building.

"It's a bigger facility. It's easier to get to," Crawford said. "The parking situation is much better as is general access to the building."

There's a two-lane drive-up," he added, noting that the single drive-up window at the building on Jackson Avenue has not been in use for a while.  He said it was against company policy to discuss terms of the lease or the cost of either building but did say bank customers will still see the same employees.

One potentially challenging aspect of the move involved people with safe deposit boxes. Crawford said they were all notified about a month ago that they had to close them. He said they can re-open their boxes on Monday when the new building opens. According to Crawford, some people have already reserved spots.

Crawford also said that the Bank of America ATM at the Syosset train station will remain in place.
