Syosset/Woodbury Restaurant News

It's not difficult to find a good deal on dinner in the area.

Café Testarossa (364-8877) has a $24 three-course Twilight menu available every night from 4:30 p.m.- 6 p.m. Appetizers include PEI mussels, fried calamari, stuffed eggplant, shrimp and crab cake and more. Entrees range from five different pastas to tilapia, chicken and salmon dishes. For dessert choose from either cheesecake, tiramisu or vanilla ice cream plus coffee/tea.

Every Sunday in May (including Mother's Day) the new Rare 650 (496-8000) --- the former Sagamore Steak House---has Surf & Turf for Two. Each couple shares a sliced 14 oz. filet mignon and a 2 lb. Maine lobster, along with a choice of two Caesar or house salads, two sides, two desserts and coffee/tea all for $99.99.

For something quicker and much less taxing to the wallet, try the new Moe's Southwest Grill (692-8200/fax: 692-8202) in Woodbury Common for fresh tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. Order at the counter and tell them which beans, cheese and meats and grab a table. It's perfect for a bite while shopping.

You can't eat flowers, so for Mother's Day stop by Crumbs Bake Shop (224-4542), also at Woodbury Common and order the Mother's Day Taste Pack with a dozen taste-size vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with pink, red and white sprinkles, or go for the Pretty As A Rose Collection with a half-dozen flowered-covered cupcakes.

Coolfish (921-3250) has a great $32 three-course prix fixe dinner every night which includes a glass of wine. It's available Sunday to Friday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The menu changes from week to week.
