Tell Us: Rent or Build a Business Space?

Chipotle built their space from scratch; good idea?

The latest business news in Syosset is that Chipotle Mexican Grill will open their doors Thursday. Full story here.

Chipotle, rather than renting an existing vacant space in town, constructed their building from scratch nextdoor to Gabby's Gourmet Bagelatessen.

What do you think of the decision to build a new spot rather than rent an existing space? What other areas could benefit from extending their space for businesses to come in? Do you think this is a good spot for Chipotle (will be across from Panera Bread)? Should businesses looking to come to Syosset work with the spaces available or construct something new?

Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Although I've been very vocal about Chipotle's opening in Syosset (I'm counting the minutes, man...counting the minutes), I think they have chosen an awful location. Even with the new parking lot, that shopping strip is probably the most dangerous to drive into and out of from Jericho Turnpike. Also, one of the coolest things about other Chipotle restaurants is the outdoor seating. For a couple of bucks, you can dine outside like you're in the Bahamas or something. This one doesn't seem to have an outdoor dining area at all. Still, trust me, everybody...you're gonna like this place.
