The Great Escape: Bayville Adventure Park

Head over to Bayville for the beach and loads of activities.

Today's escape will take us over the bridge to Bayville to enjoy the Gold Coast's coolest attraction for the summer, Bayville Adventure Park.

After crossing the bridge you will approach the end of the road, make a left onto Bayville Avenue and travel a few miles.  Once you see the TOBAY Ransom beach on your right, the theme park will be directly on your left.

If you have a seasonal beach sticker, park in the lot, no-charge.  Bring along beach chairs and towels so that you can go swimming and view the sunset later in the day.  Weekends here can get quite crowded so using this parking area can save some time searching for prime spots.

Start the morning by taking a swing at The Lost Treasure of Captain Black Heart Bay Pirate Adventure mini-golf. From there climb about 30 feet to a rope course called Brittany Bay's Jungle Tree Top Adventure.

Nearby is Biloxi Bay's Tombstone Creek Treasure Hunt where you can pan for authentic gemstones in a sluice. Hop on the Adventure Express for a train ride, it's a fun way to get a quick tour of the park.

Check out the two mazes:  For an outdoor experience try Brewster Bay's Lost Temple of the Forgotten Maze.  Go inside to Baxter Bay's Myster Fun House and Mirror Maze for a 3-D wacky surprise at every turn.

If the mid-day sun is heating you up head over to Timbuktu Lagoon and hop on a Colonel "Wrong Way" Bay's Bumper Boat.  Fire water shooters at your fellow boaters.  And if you really want to soak up some water stand by your battle station and launch water balloons at Berkley Bay's Wild Water Balloon Wars.

You will flip over Buzz Bay's Bungee Bounce in the Adventure Dome.  Try to jump and fly two-stories high.

When it's time for a snack, cool off at Beaches & Cream Soda Shoppe.  Enjoy some homemade ice cream while watching Mr. Toggle and the shark head communicate with the crowd as the seats at the counter make a slow trip up and down.  Even the ATM will talk to you while you withdraw money.

Attached to the parlor is Professor Burton Bay's Arcade Amusements.  You can redeem prizes from your winnings or accrue them on your card to use later for bigger prizes.  In the center of the arcade belay your way on Bradley Bay's Rock Climbing Challenge.

Once the hunger sets in go directly next-door to the Shipwreck Tavern.  You will be mesmerized by the five huge fish tanks teeming with fish.  For amazing views of the L.I. Sound take the stairs up to the roof deck.  Have a drink and a meal in a lounge setting.

Along this Bayville block are additional seafood restaurants as well as a Greek restaurant.

There is just so much to do in this part of town that you can spend a full day taking it all in, it's like a destination in our very own backyard.
