It's the calm before the storm.
On a beautiful day on Long Island, many people are inside local grocery stores stocking up on food. By midday Friday some places were out of batteries, water and bread. Most Long Islanders are trying to stay away from the refrigerated food, buying dry food in case there is a power outage. For things like milk, which needs to be refrigerated, residents were buying ice and coolers so that they can create makeshift refrigerators.
