Syosset School District Actions and Performance in 2011

In last year's election an estimated 5,000 people voted, this is from a potential of 15,000 possible voters. This means less than 50% of the people come out in vote.

Remember you have a right to vote in the School District and your vote truly matters. We need to ask ourselves are we truly satisfied with the out of control school taxes levied on the homeowners and the performance of the BOE.

If the NYS Governor did not request school districts for property taxes be capped at 2% do you think that most school districts this year would be at the minimum cap or perhaps higher?  Are you also satisfied that our BOE approved in 2011 without community voice the Superintendent’s Compensation for another five years? We need to ask ourselves could the BOE have negotiated a lesser term and started the search for another candidate. The  Superintendent is compensated not only more than the governor of NYS but also the president of our country.

We also need to address the Fiscal School Budget of 2014, do you think we can have the teachers forgo another year without an increase? The current operations budget needs to be given over to people who will be advocates for cost reductions/ avoidance and cut unnecessary spending. While finding more grant money and to reduce the tax burden on the community. I believe this can all be done without any sacrifice to our childrens education and sports programs.

Vote for Change; we really need it.
