Air Quality Alert Issued; Heat Advisory Tuesday?

Those with respiratory problems should stay indoors.

The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for the Syosset area that began at 10 a.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. 

The air quality index is now in excess of 100, and all residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor physical activity. Young children and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease may be more susceptible.

A heat advisory has not been issued for Monday. But the National Weather Service announced that one may come Tuesday, when increased humidity could push heat indexes over 100 degrees.
