Ash Wednesday Mass in Syosset

Churches will hold special services Wednesday in honor of Ash Wednesday.

The season of Lent - the traditional period of penance and self reflection begins today - with Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is celebrated with services in which the faithful are marked with an ash cross on the forehead.

The season of Lent ends with Good Friday and Easter.

St. Edward the Confessor holds mass at 9 a.m., 12:10 p.m., and 7 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church will hold a traditional liturgy at 7 p.m.
