'Celebrating the Spirit' at St. Edward's Dinner Dance

Pastor Tom Fusco celebrates his 25th anniversary as priest.

St. Edward the Confessor Church held its annual dinner dance at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury Friday night--with a very special guest.

Parishioners, family and friends gathered to honor St. Edward's pastor, Fr. Tom Fusco, for his 25th anniversary as an ordained Roman Catholic priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Originally from Valley Stream, Fr. Tom was educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, and the Marianist Brothers at Chaminade High School. Fr. Tom decided at an early age that priesthood would be the life for him. In May, 1985, he was ordained by Bishop John R. McGann at St. Agnes Cathedral.

Fr. Tom, who has been at St Edward's since 2002, said, "It's all about the celebration of the community spirit!"

Attendee Gio Gliner exclaimed, "This is really a tribute to Fr. Tom. I would never have been involved as I am with any other pastor. Without Fr. Tom, there would be no Scout Troop No. 205."

Allison Morris, who co-chaired the event with her husband, Chris, said, "The response has been overwhelming, with over 450 guests. That's how well loved he is."

"This is honoring such a great man who is a wonderful example of what a priest should be," proclaimed Deacon Tom Reilly, Jr.

The milestone celebration was also a successful fundraising event for the school and parish ministries. Spirits were high, laughter was plentiful, and smiles were endless.

Congratulations, Fr. Tom!
