5 Things You Need to Know for today, December 1.

Happy Wednesday to you, and welcome to "5 Things You Need to Know Today." Each weekday we'll be putting a little extra spotlight on some of the things that are going on in the Syosset area. While we do our best to keep up with what's going on, we can always use your help. If you don't see something that should be on the list, don't be afraid to let us know!

1. The  is offering a  class for residents over the age of 65. The program is offered by William Feeley and Defensive Driving Programs, Inc. and it starts at 7 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. The cost of the program is $38 or $32 (if you're 65 years of age of older) and will also be held on December 8 if you can't make this one. 2. If you have a young child (newborn to 18 months), you could head to the library for the dance program. The cost of the program is $3. Limited registration for Syosset School District Residents began on November 17, so please be sure to call the library to check for availability.

3. holds its' Financial Aid Night at the school at 7 p.m.

4. Head back to the library at 2:30 p.m. for "e," a program designed to keep you in shape while staying flexible!

5. Need to get some holiday shopping done, but can't make it out of the house? Head to the Borders Books Store website where they have some great holiday deals! They include: up to 90 percent off on used books, popular music CD's for under $10 and EBooks for under $3!
