Dec. 21: Hilma Wolitzer Visits, Patch Goes Dark

A rundown of events and reminders for Friday in Syosset and Woodbury.

1. Friday will be a mostly windy and rainy day with temperatures peaking at 52 degrees.

2. Patch will join many other websites by going dark at 9:30 a.m. Friday in observance of a National Moment of Silence in remembrance of the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary. Read about the movement here.

4. Our Lady of Mercy Academy is closed Friday. St. Edward the Confessor School will dismiss at 12 p.m.
