Five Things You Need to Know for Monday, Dec. 6.

Happy Monday to you, and welcome to "5 Things You Need to Know Today." Each weekday we'll be putting a little extra spotlight on some of the things that are going on in the Syosset area. While we do our best to keep up with what's going on, we can always use your help. If you don't see something that should be on the list, don't be afraid to let us know!

1. The North Shore LIJ Home Care Network will be hosting an at 11:00 a.m. describing the home services offered through the North Shore/LIJ Health System. These services are designed to preserve the independence while managing prescribed medical and living care needs. 

2. Head to the library for which is "A Multimedia Performance Evoking the Paris of Pablo Picasso." The program starts at 2 p.m. and is free of charge!

3. Buy your Christmas Tree! Head to St. Edward the Confessor Church for their - they have trees and wreaths available. Located on Jackson Ave. just south of the Long Island Railroad. 

4. Some of Syosset's top athletes will be honored tonight at at the high school, starting at 7 p.m. Among those honored will be Syosset Brave Evan Kappatos, recent winner of the Piner Award given to Nassau County's best linebacker! Check back with Patch Tuesday for the full story on Kappatos!

5. Monday Night Football is extra special tonight - the hometown New York Jets will be taking on the New England Patriots! With both teams at 9-2 on the season, the game is truly a battle of first-place powerhouses and should be the game of the year! 

So, where should you watch the game? How about at if you have the chance -   at the restaurant as their coaches will be guest bartending! All tips going to the guest bar tenders will be going back to the team as they embark on their Journey to Cooperstown, New York the week of July 16-22 to compete in a 108-team tournament with teams from around the United States and Canada. So get to the restaurant to help them out if you can!
